A breakfast is the most essential meal of the day, which keeps you charged up for the morning duties. It is also important that the breakfast should be healthy. But, it is not always compulsory that healthy breakfasts are boring. Here are some healthy fun recipes for enjoying the first meal of the day.

Buttermilk Pancakes


  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs (beaten)
  • 4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder


In one bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder. In another bowl, combine the beaten eggs and buttermilk and whisk until it blends well and becomes frothy. Combine this mixture into the first bowl and mix well. Take a small portion of the batter and spread it on a hot greased pan. The amount depends on the size of pancake you want. Turn the pancake upside down when it starts bubbling at the top. Cook until the bottom side turns golden brown. Yummy pancakes are ready! You can pour honey or chocolate sauce over them and enjoy the treat.

Sunny Morning Doughnuts


  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 4 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • Oil for deep frying


In one bowl, combine 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, combine the beaten eggs, milk, oil, orange juice and orange peel. Stir this mixture into the first bowl and mix well. Add on the remaining 1/2 cup flour and knead to a soft dough. Cover this dough and refrigerate it for around one hour.

Remove the dough and roll out on a floured surface to a 1/2 inch thick diskette. Cut it with a doughnut cutter. Heat the oil and deep fry the doughnuts until golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel. You can dust these doughnuts with powdered sugar or cover them with chocolate sauce or cream. 

Vanilla French Toast


  • 6 bread slices
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt


In a bowl, mix the beaten eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt well. Dip a bread slice in it for around 30 seconds so that the bread is covered properly with the batter on both sides. Cook this bread on a hot pan till it turns golden brown on both sides. Repeat the procedure for all the bread slices. Your French toasts are ready to eat!

Baked Oatmeal


  • 3 cups oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder


In one bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon powder. In another bowl, combine the beaten eggs, milk and butter. Stir this mixture into the first bowl and mix well. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven for 40-45 minutes. Serve hot! This oatmeal can be enjoyed better when served with milk.
