Amazon is celebrating its 20th birthday on 15th July 2015. It is introducing this day as ‘Prime Day’ which will be a global shopping event. Black Friday is the legendary shopping day that follows Thanksgiving. But, Amazon claims that Prime Day will offer bigger deals than Black Friday. “Step aside Black Friday, meet Prime Day” is what Amazon has announced.
These offers will be available only to Amazon’s Prime customers in US, UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria. But, you can even avail these offers by signing up for a free 30 day Prime membership prior to July 15th instead of paying up for a Prime subscription. There is good news for the people in UK. Amazon is now slashing the price of annual membership for Prime members from 79 pounds to 59 pounds. New customers can also sign up for Prime at a discounted price till 8th July midnight. Amazon is also trying to promote its Prime services with a range of new features including one-hour delivery in London.
Deals on this day will begin at midnight and there will be new offers almost every ten minutes. Isn’t that just amazing! There will be discounts on products in every category. Apart from Prime Day, you can also check out for other Amazon deals that are available all the year round.
Prime offers fast free shipping on millions of items, unlimited movie streaming, TV shows, music and books. Amazon is also going to hold a Prime Living Photo Contest, where it will ask its customers to submit photos that show off Prime’s benefits. One winner for each Prime eligible country will get an Amazon gift card worth 6430 pounds! Prime members frequently reveal how much they love Prime. So, Amazon also provides members a forum known as ‘Prime Living’ to share how Prime helps to make some happy moments for them.
‘Prime Day’ is Amazon’s effort to bring more Prime members to the existing list. It already has around 40 million existing members in the US alone. The reason why Amazon wants to do this is because Prime members spend a lot more on Amazon, compared to non-members. The numbers calculated by the ‘Customer Intelligence Research Partner’ are $1500 yearly by Prime members and $625 yearly for non-members.
Whether ‘Prime Day’ is going to be an annual event or not, is yet a question to be answered by Amazon. Also, what deals are going to be available on this day has not yet been disclosed by the company. So, if you are not a Prime member yet, then it cannot be said whether signing up ahead of time is worth it or not. But, since Amazon is offering a free sign-up, you can give it a try.
Even if you are not a Prime member, you can shop from Amazon at discounted rates with Amazon coupons and Amazon promo codes. You can get these coupons on DiscountMantra – India’s best online offers and coupons store.
