We are seeing how the grocery delivery segment is in high tide within the country. Seeing this as an advantage, many eCommerce players have also entered this segment. After Snapdeal, Amazon and Paytm, now even Flipkart has come up with a new app called 'Flipkart Nearby' this weekend, through which you can buy grocery online and have them delivered to you right at your doorstep.
But, this app has started functioning only in Bangalore in prime locations including Koramangala, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Ejipura, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Banashankari, Bellandur, Bommanahalli, Indiranagar, Marathahalli, Tavarekere, Domlur and Ulsoor. Flipkart says it will expand the reach of this app to different locations gradually and will also join other services in this segment so that the services are available throughout the country.
Apart from groceries, this app also lets you order staples, beverages, dairy products, pulses, healthy snacks, energy drinks and ready-to-eat paranthas. Other than eatables, it also provides personal care products, health & wellness products, baby care products and household supplies.
At present, this app is available only for Android users, and Flipkart has no web-based counterpart. So, you cannot take advantage of this service on your desktop. All you have to do is download the app from Google Play store, and you have the liberty to order 24x7 but, with deliveries made between 10 am to 8 pm only. This app is a hyperlocal app, meaning that Flipkart has partnered with local stores so that when you place an order, the nearest partner store will fulfill your order at the earliest and with fresh products.
Currently, this app accepts only a Cash-on-Delivery payment option, without charging any extra delivery fees. A customer care agent at Flipkart said, "Customer can place order for even a single product of minimum price and we deliver it without any delivery charge." What more can you ask for?
Other eCommerce players in the country who are offering grocery delivery to customers include Amazon's 'Kirana Now' that was launched in March and 'Paytm Zip'. Snapdeal had also tied up with Godrej Nature's Basket in January to sell 400 of its products online.
It seems like the grocery delivery sector is going to be a promising one with the advancement in technology and with big names in the eCommerce sector also entering the space. The grocery delivery startups like BigBasket, PepperTap and Grofers are already in cut-throat competition and these eCommerce players have only toughened their survival.
Take advantage of this Flipkart grocery app and shop for fresh groceries and eatables that Flipkart offers. You can also save a lot on your online shopping bills by using Flipkart coupons, available on DiscountMantra - India’s best online offers and coupons store.
