After the success of the second generation of Moto G, Motorola has announced its third generation smartphone. It launched the Moto G 3rd generation smartphone in New Delhi. Similar events will take place in London, New York and Sao Paulo where the company will be revealing other smartphones too. Motorola has also announced this product to be available from 28 July midnight via its exclusive online retail partner, Flipkart. Although they did not inform about how many pieces will go on sale but, they did mention that the first and second generation Moto G will phase out with time.
The third generation Moto G is available in two different options – one is with an 8 GB inbuilt storage with 1 GB RAM priced at Rs. 11,999 and the other is a 16GB model with 2 GB RAM priced at Rs. 12,999. It is said to have been built to give tough competition to Xiaomi, Asus and Lenovo smartphones. Here is a list of specifications that this smartphone possesses.
The Moto G 3rd generation smartphone is a 155 grams weighing phone with an 11.6 mm thickness, available in black and white colours. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with an Adreno 306 GPU and works on the Android 5.1 Lollipop system. Apart from the 8GB and 16GB internal memory options that the phone possesses, its memory can be expanded upto 32 GB.
The third generation Moto G has a 5 inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches. It possesses a non-removable Li-Ion 2470 mAh battery. It is a dual-sim phone that supports 2 micro-sim cards, both of which support 4G. Other than 4G LTE connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and has Micro-USB connectivity options. It has dual front speakers above and below the display along with 2 mics. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and f/2.0 lens, and a 5-megapixel front camera. It supports geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and auto-HDR.
One of the special features that distinguishes it from its earlier generation phones is its IPX7 certification, which means that it is dust and water-resistant i.e. it is safe if immersed in upto 3 feet of water for 30 minutes. The previous generations of Moto G only featured a nano-coating layer that saved the phone from occasional water splashes.
